It's fun to wait for Gmail to appear on your iPhone because of a huge attached photo. Fortunately, you won't have to wait anymore, because Google adds a new setting for iPhone users that lets you automatically block photos from uploading when you open an email. The setting also prohibits spam tracking from spammers.
The update checks images to make sure there is no suspicious content that the sender may use to track your site and use cookies. Gmail also makes sure that your photos don't contain malware. If Google detects something suspicious, Gmail won't show you photos and give you an option to open them.
Google has been Here's how to disable photos in Gmail from opening automatically.
1. On your iPhone or iPad , open the Gmail app.
2. At the top right, click the three-line hamburger menu.
3. Select Settings from the menu.
4. Click your Gmail account at the top.
5. Select images.
6. Choose a question before viewing external images.
7. When you open an email with pictures, it will be hidden. If you want to see them, click View pictures.
You can change this setting at any time by always returning to the external image display setting.
